JOB SUMMARY The Internal Medicine Physician provides comprehensive, long-term care to adult patients in both outpatient and inpatient settings. This role involves diagnosing and managing a wide range of acute and chronic conditions, emphasizing disease prevention, wellness, and evidence-based treatment. The physician serves as a key provider in promoting adult health and managing complex medical cases, working in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams to ensure high-quality care delivery. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES The Physician – Internal Medicine job description is intended to point out major responsibilities within the role, but it is not limited to these items. • Conduct physical examinations, order diagnostic tests, and interpret results to diagnose and manage adult health conditions • Provide preventative care, screenings, and education to support overall adult health and wellness • Develop and implement treatment plans for patients with acute and chronic conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, and cardiovascular disease • Prescribe and manage appropriate medications and therapies based on current clinical guidelines • Coordinate care with specialists and other healthcare providers as needed for comprehensive patient management • Monitor patient progress through follow-up visits, laboratory testing, and adjustments to treatment plans • Maintain accurate, up-to-date medical documentation in compliance with regulatory standards • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and support clinical protocols that promote population health management • Educate patients and families about disease prevention, health maintenance, and treatment adherence • Perform other duties as assigned by the Medical Director or clinic leadership EDUCATION AND PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE (Licensures AND Certifications) • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) from an accredited institution • Completion of an accredited residency in Internal Medicine • Board certification or board eligibility in Internal Medicine • Current and unrestricted medical license in the state of practice PROFESSIONAL COMPETENCIES (List professional knowledge, attitude, and skills required in order to work in the job) • Deep understanding of adult and geriatric medicine, including diagnosis and management of complex and chronic conditions • Strong clinical, analytical, and problem-solving skills • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a compassionate, patient-focused approach • Proficiency in electronic health records (EHR) and clinical systems • Commitment to best practices in medicine, continuous learning, and quality improvement • Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams and specialists • Knowledge of population health, preventative medicine, and integrated care models As an Equal Opportunity Employer, we welcome and employ a diverse employee group committed to meeting the needs of NeueHealth, our consumers, and the communities we serve.
