JOB SUMMARY The Physician – Pediatric Interventional Cardiology is responsible for the delivery of high-quality evidence-based care; effective and efficient diagnosing, managing and treating all patients placed under the role holder’s care. The Physician – Pediatric Interventional Cardiology makes recommendations, orders appropriate therapeutics and diagnostics as per the patient’s diagnosed condition. The post holder needs to be competent in all aspects of pediatric interventional cardiology including neonatal and complex cardiac cases. S/he will work with the Division Chief of Cardiology to share the clinical duties, education, research, and some administrative tasks. KEY ROLE ACCOUNTABILITIES Oversee the assessment and reassessment of inpatients and/or outpatients on a regular basis, in line with established best practice. Actively participates in interdisciplinary meetings to help plan effective, safe, and holistic care for individual patients. Reviews results of all investigations, develops and modifies treatment as required, proactively provides guidance to less experienced colleagues. Assists in supervising activities of junior medical staff and jointly assumes responsibility for patient care. Responsible for the delivery of high-quality evidence-based care and services within specialty area. Leads ward rounds, reassesses inpatients and/or outpatients on a regular basis, in line with established best practice. Regularly reviews results of all investigations and modifies treatment as required. Provides cardiac catheterization services for children with congenital and acquired heart disease and adults with congenital heart disease that covers the full spectrum of interventional procedures. Diagnoses, treats, and provides medical services to patients. Clinical management & delivery of high-quality patient care consistent with the mission, vision and values of the organization. Leads special projects relating to growth, development, integration and improvement of interventional cardiology. Provides leadership and education for cardiology fellows and advanced fellowships in Interventional Cardiology. Provides leadership in the development of the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory research programs. Serves as a key clinical leader with high visibility who communicates regularly with the physicians and clinical team. Oversee Cath Lab operations and collaborate with strong Physician leadership to drive a system-oriented mindset within the Cath Lab. Maintains and promotes communication among all members of interdisciplinary teams, patients, and visitors, implementing hospital policy and procedures. Oversees operation and management of the assigned units, as well as ensuring highest standard of care and patient satisfaction are consistently met and upheld. Establishes and evaluates new and innovative procedures for patients with congenital heart disease, including procedures that are based on a close collaboration between interventional cardiologists and cardiothoracic surgeons. Performs therapeutic and diagnostic cardiac catheterizations along with other general clinical duties. Works with the lab team to provide a positive, forward-thinking work environment, maintaining and managing quality care, fostering new and ongoing research opportunities, and continued advancement in new and innovative catheter-based therapies. Establishes programmatic goals, operations, and organizational development of Sidra’s Pediatric Cardiac Catheterization Unit - working closely with Division Chief, Department Chair, leaders of other divisions and the executive management. Organizes and Participates to a Cath lab on call to ensure 24/7 coverage. Collaborates with biomedical engineering at Sidra for the maintenance issues to reduce the downtime to minimal or in the selection of new equipment. Responsible for scheduling, ordering and dropping the MPC charges for the activities noted above.
