POSITION SUMMARY:

Physicians providing services in the Trans Health program provide client-centred care to Klinic clients. Physicians uphold Klinic’s vision, mission and values and collaborate with inter-professional teams to provide non- judgmental, excellent client care. Physicians will bring with them a deep commitment to an anti-oppressive approach to care and be open to learn from their clients on the clients’ journey. Physicians will practice with humility and understand their own social position in comparison to their clients.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Graduate of a recognized school of medicine
  • Currently registered or eligible to be registered with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Manitoba (CPSM) for practice in Manitoba
  • Current membership in the Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA)
  • Current certification of the College of Family Physicians of Canada (CCFP) or comparable professional medical certification appropriate for practice in Transgender Health
  • Interest and/or experience in community-based medicine and the Social Determinants of Health
  • Demonstrated ability to work as a member of a team
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English (additional language skills would be an asset)
  • Pro-choice
  • Willingness and ability to work with individuals of diverse gender identities/ expressions and sexuality preferences
  • Able to communicate appropriately cross-culturally

PROGRAM/AGENCY

  • Participates in the supervision and evaluation of students in the Health Services
  • Establish, review and update clinical protocols
  • Attends staff meetings;
  • Assists in the development of health information resources;
  • Assists in program development;
  • Records daily statistics as required;
  • Assists with orientation, training and supervision of new staff and students;
  • Participates in training courses and in services offered elsewhere and by Klinic in order to maintain and improve quality of service;
  • May be required to perform other duties and functions related to this job description but not exceeding above stated skills and capabilities
