JOB SUMMARY The Physics Assistant will provide support as a member of the Medical Physics and Engineering Division in the Department of Radiation Oncology at UT Southwestern. The Physics Assistant will create adaptive treatment documents, including treatment plans; perform quality assurance (QA) of adaptive treatment delivery; and analyze data resulting from adaptive therapy treatments. EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION Required Education Bachelor's Degree in Physics, Engineering, Mathematics, or Physical Science Preferred Education Master's Degree Experience Programming experience JOB DUTIES Locates from PACS and simulator systems patient CT/MR/PET images and then imports them into the treatment planning system. Registers MR, PET and/or CT images together for treatment planning. Prepares treatment plan documents and billing notes and uploads them into the record and verify system. Recalculates adaptive plans post treatment to provide a record of the benefit of plan adaption. Creates adaptive treatment documents and enters them in the record and verify system to support adaptive therapy billing. Records, collates and analyzes timing statistics for each step of adaptive treatments in order to find areas to reduce patient in-vault time. Performs patient specific quality assurance of treatment plans, pre-delivery for initial plans, and post-delivery for adaptive plans. Analyses and accumulates dose from each fraction of adaptive plans to provide an estimate of the delivered treatment to for the attending physician's review. Conduct mechanical and image quality tests for quality assurance of linear accelerators or simulators. Undertakes accelerator commissioning tasks as assigned. Conduct QA device commissioning including determining tests required, measurements and commissioning report. Inventories quality assurance equipment (solid water, phantoms, ion chambers, electrometers, thermometers, barometers etc). Performs other duties as assigned.
