About the role Mater Health has an opportunity act in the position of Director of Physiotherapy to cover leave from 23/11/26 to 31/1/27. Lead a dynamic team of over 100 staff across four specialised teams delivering comprehensive acute, subacute, inpatient, and outpatient physiotherapy services. You will oversee the consistent delivery of safe, high-quality, evidence-based care, driving innovation, quality improvement, and research aligned with Mater Health’s strategic goals. As a key member of the Allied Health leadership team, you will shape and integrate physiotherapy services across the organisation while building team capability and partnering closely with consumers and clinical teams. What you’ll be doing * Lead the delivery of safe, integrated, and innovative physiotherapy services to achieve high-quality clinical and patient outcomes. * Provide professional governance, advocacy, and expert advice, representing Mater at state and national professional forums. * Maintain a small clinical caseload (approx. 2 hours/week) and support clinicians with complex cases. * Build departmental capability and translate organisational strategies into operational plans, driving performance and efficiency. * Manage the operational budget, contracts, and resource allocation to ensure strong financial performance and growth of private outpatient services. * Ensure compliance with mandatory organisational, professional, and statutory requirements, managing risks and workplace health and safety concerns. * Foster collaborative interprofessional relationships to support high-quality, patient-centred care across Mater Health. * Promote a culture of quality improvement, research, and professional development in partnership with Mater Research and Mater Education. * Represent Physiotherapy and Allied Health on relevant internal and external committees and working groups. * Lead workforce development by providing coaching, feedback, and clear accountability to build a positive, cohesive team culture.
