The Physiotherapist team within the Cardiac Program at the Mississauga Hospital, Trillium Health Partners supports Physiotherapy services for patients in Cardiology 2C, Cardiovascular Surgery 2J, Coronary Care Unit (CCU) and Cardiovascular Surgery ICU(CVICU).

POSITION SUMMARY:

  • This position will work closely with other physiotherapists and interprofessional team members primarily support the Cardiovascular Surgery and Cardiac Surgery ICU patients
  • Responsible for providing assessment and treatment programs for referred patients, including patient and family education
  • Act in a consultant role to effectively manage patient population
  • Assign activities, as appropriate, to the assistants and supervises effectively
  • Participate as an active member of the inter-professional team
  • Consistently delivers high quality, safe patient- and family-centered care
  • Demonstrates responsibility and accountability for reflective, competent practice that exemplifies THP’s values of compassion, excellence and courage.
  • Supports the integration of the CANADIAN INTERPROFESSIONAL HEALTH COLLABORATIVE COMPETENCY FRAMEWORK FOR ADVANCING COLLABORATION (2024) within their daily practice

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must hold a current Independent Practice Certificate with the College of Physiotherapists of Ontario
  • Established clinical skills in the management of Cardiology, Cardiac Surgery, Vascular and Cardiac Critical Care patients (CCU and CVICU).
  • Critical Care experience an asset.
  • Rostered for Administering a Substance by Inhalation and Tracheal Suctioning
  • Current certification in Basic Cardiac Life Support
  • Excellent assessment and treatment skills
  • Reliable, flexible, creative, self-directed professional, able to work effectively and collaboratively within a team environment
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills
  • Willingness to self reflect, learn and grow in a supportive environment
  • Leadership capacity within an interdisciplinary team
  • Ability to work with minimal direction/supervision
  • A good understanding of and experience with the OTA/PTA role required
  • Good organizational, planning and time management skills
  • Excellent communication skills
