JOB DESCRIPTION OVERVIEW

Post: Basic Grade Physiotherapist
Location: MS North West Therapy Centre (MS Centre)
Reports to: MS Centre Manager/Senior Physiotherapist
Hours: 30 hours per week

GENERAL SUMMARY:

This person will be employed to work as a Basic Grade Physiotherapist reporting to the MS Centre Manager and Senior Physiotherapist. You will be required to work as part of the physiotherapy team at the MS NW Therapy Centre (MS Centre). You will be responsible for the provision of a quality physiotherapy service as a member of the Centre’s physiotherapy team inclusive of own clinical caseload. The physiotherapist will be responsible for the daily running, development and evaluation of service in conjunction with the Centre Manager and Senior Physiotherapist.

Responsibilities

PRINCIPAL DUTIES

  • To undertake appropriate physiotherapy assessment, treatment and goal planning of clients referred to the above service.
  • Carry a clinical case load appropriate to your post.
  • To organise, develop and co-ordinate the work in each area to its maximum potential
  • To keep accurate patient records, reports and statistics in line with professional standards.
  • Attend meetings, case conferences, clinics as required.
  • To form part of the Company’s Clinical Governance, Quality & Safety committees.
  • To liaise with others to ensure that effective communication and reporting takes place at all times.
  • To have responsibility for the health, safety and welfare of self and others in the working environment, to follow safe working practices and to comply the Centre’s Health and Safety Policy.
  • To keep abreast of current knowledge and developments in the field of physiotherapy and attend regular in-service training and post registration education.
  • To work within the department guidelines for activity, health promotion and quality targets.
  • To participate in performance management process.
  • Treat with courtesy and respect staff at the Centre, clients and family members attending the Centre and other persons encountered while working within the Centre.
  • To undertake any other duties as may be delegated from time to time by your Manager consistent with the responsibility of the post.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • To work with the Centre in developing policies/procedures, service planning to develop/improve the service.
  • To ensure and develop a good standard of open communication and maintain good relations through liaison with staff within the department and with other disciplines.
  • To attend mandatory training programmes.
  • To work to agreed standards of physiotherapy practice.
  • To assist with staff induction and supervision.
  • To attend staff meetings as required and participate in activities concerning the department as a whole.
  • Accept extra responsibility when necessary to ensure the efficient running of the service.
  • Ensure a high level of confidentiality at all times.
  • To participate in performance appraisal on an annual basis.
