The Physiotherapist provides service in accordance with the Mission and Values of St.Amant, policies and procedures of Clinical Services, external legislation, regulatory bodies and all relevant professional standards of practice. The Physiotherapist is familiar with and promotes a “customer service focus” in the provision of service to clients, staff and in other professional relationships.
As an active team member in Clinical Services, the Physiotherapist participates in Quality Improvement activities (QI), including the development, modification and implementation of service and program goals, objectives, policies, procedures and standards. The Physiotherapist uses service evaluation feedback to purposefully and continually strengthen services. The Physiotherapist actively supports all program initiatives designed to strengthen services and program integrity.

EDUCATION:

  • Graduate of an accredited university program in Physiotherapy
  • Bilingual in both French and English is a definite asset
Responsibilities

Duties include:

  • Assesses and documents the clients’ physical needs and abilities; develops and implements appropriate treatment interventions
  • Integrates treatment goals and interventions that align with educational / vocational programming and the home living environments
  • Provides necessary demonstration and training to individuals and care givers who will be carrying out gross motor or other Physiotherapy related activities
  • Ensures the provision of special devices and orthotic equipment by working in consultation with funding agencies, commercial dealers, rehabilitation engineers and orthotics as required
  • Provides for the maintenance and modification of special devices by monitoring equipment and working with the special devices technician or eternal service providers
  • Provides assessment and follows up on orthopedic problems by regularly monitoring and recommending referral to orthopedic specialists as indicated.
  • Develops and monitors clinical programs
  • Ensures the involvement of an individual’s support network including direct care givers and family members (where applicable) in the assessment and intervention process
  • Ensures there is appropriate consent related to intervention and exchange of information and reviews this regularly
  • Ensures that a service plan and timelines are specified for the intervention / transition process
  • Consults effectively with other supports and services to ensure coordination of planning
  • Documents and maintains client files in a format consistent with program protocol and timelines
  • Ensures clinical outcomes are monitored, documented and shared
  • Reports and documents all high risk or potentially high-risk situation according to Policy
  • Evaluates new products and equipment to meet client specific needs
  • Develops or constructs material for client use or supervise a Clinical Assistant or Technician (where applicable) assigned to this function
  • Develops clinical specialties/competencies in accordance with priority needs of the clients
