Overview Post Title: Physiotherapy Assistant Post Status: Permanent Contract Department Physiotherapy Department Location: Beaumont Hospital, Dublin 9 Reports to: Physiotherapy Manager in Charge III Salary: Appointment will be made on the Physiotherapy Assistant salary sale at a point in line with Government pay policy. €35,788 to €44,984 Hours of work: Full-Time Closing Date: 12 noon on 2/12/2025 Please note the hospital reserves the right to close the competition early should a substantial number of applications be received. Position Summary: The successful candidate will work as part of the Physiotherapy Team in Beaumont Hospital. Responsibilities To attend at such times and places as may be fixed by the Board and to remain in attendance there as long as his/her services are required. To carry out his/her duties under the supervision and control of the Physiotherapist in charge or such other person designated for that purpose by the Board. To carry out the duties of a Physiotherapy Assistant in the hospital and at such other locations as may be required by the Chief Executive or designated officer. To keep such records appropriate to his/her office as he/she may be required by the Board. Clinical Responsibilities · To assist the physiotherapist in their assessment of clients/patients and implementation of treatment programmes. This will include direct/hands-on assistance. · To assist the physiotherapist in their provision of any therapeutic materials/equipment/aids & appliances as appropriate. · To develop a rapport with clients/patients. · To use his/her acquired skills and techniques with individual clients/patients and groups, as directed by the physiotherapist: o To organise/prepare clients/patients for treatment sessions, as directed by the physiotherapist. o To organise and supervise therapeutic activities, as directed by the physiotherapist. o To adapt individual and/or group activities to facilitate clients/patients with cognitive/physical/communication difficulties. · To observe general behaviour, ability and response of clients/patients, record information as requested and report their observations to the treating physiotherapist. · To liaise and communicate effectively with multidisciplinary team members as appropriate. · To effectively communicate with voluntary and community agencies as required. · To assist the physiotherapist with the training of students as required. · The Physiotherapy Assistant may be expected to rotate between Beaumont Hospital and the Rehabilitation Unit, St. Joseph's Hospital and domiciliary based care as required. · To perform such other duties as appropriate to the post as may be assigned to him/her from time to time by the Chief Executive or such other Officer designated by the Beaumont Hospital Board. Administrative/ Non Clinical Responsibilities · To assist with stock control, equipment orders, administrative tasks. · To comply with all relevant statutory, local and hospital regulations and policies at all times. · To be involved in the preparation and cleaning of materials and treatment areas. · To assist in keeping all relevant clinical areas clean and tidy in adherence to local Infection Control and Prevention Policies. · Undertake training and further learning to develop the personal skills required to improve patient care. Qualifications Selection Criteria: Selection criteria outline the qualifications, skills, knowledge and/or experience that the successful candidate would need to demonstrate for successful discharge of the responsibilities of the post. Applications will be assessed on the basis of how well candidates satisfy these criteria. Mandatory: Have the clinical and administrative capacity to fulfil the functions of the role. Desirable: · FETAC Level 5 qualification in appropriate area (i.e. health care assistant, Physiotherapy assistant). · Relevant experience in the healthcare setting (acute hospital, rehab centre etc).
