Responsibilities

ROLE SUMMARY

To work under the direction of the Specialist Physiotherapists to deliver assessment related activities and safe, effective physiotherapy interventions. These maybe delivered independently or with qualified staff.
To assist the Physiotherapists in their administrative duties and contribute to the efficient operation of the department.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. To support qualified Physiotherapy staff in the treatment and handling of Service-user’s in a manner that respects people’s privacy, dignity and individuality.
  2. To undertake physiotherapeutic interventions both independently and under direct supervision of the qualified physiotherapists.
  3. To provide administration support for physiotherapy staff to ensure the efficient and effective delivery of the service.
  4. To liaise regularly with physiotherapists regarding treatment progression and on-going care.
  5. To carry a designated case load and act responsibly in the execution of clinical duties paying due regard to health and safety of self and others.
  6. To act as part of the multidisciplinary team liaising closely with a range of health and social care professionals.
  7. To prepare and maintain equipment and the treatment areas including household duties.
  8. To assist where necessary in the provision of cover across the service in times of annual leave / sickness etc.
  9. To ensure effective communication with service-user’s, carers and all other Health and Social Care Professionals regarding aspects of care. Providing and receiving complex information which requires empathy and reassurance. Communicating where there may be barriers to understanding.
  10. To monitor and maintain equipment stocks and supplies under direction of senior physiotherapists and to advise physiotherapists of repairs or condemned equipment.
