Description

We are seeking a dedicated and patient-focused Physiotherapy Assistant (PTA) to support our physiotherapists in delivering mobility, strength, and restorative care services to seniors in a long-term care setting.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Completion of a recognized Physiotherapy Assistant (PTA) / Occupational Therapy Assistant program (or equivalent experience in elder care).
  • Previous work experience in a long-term care, rehabilitation, or geriatric setting strongly preferred.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills, with a compassionate and patient-centered approach.
  • Physical ability to safely assist residents with mobility and transfers.
  • Knowledge of restorative care principles, dementia care, and safe handling techniques considered an asset.

Responsibilities
  • Implement physiotherapy treatment plans under the direction of a licensed physiotherapist.
  • Assist residents with mobility, transfer training, walking programs, and range-of-motion exercises.
  • Provide encouragement, reassurance, and emotional support to residents during therapy sessions.
  • Monitor residents’ progress, note changes or concerns, and report observations promptly to the physiotherapist.
  • Set up, clean, and maintain therapy equipment, ensuring a safe environment for residents and staff.
  • Provide group exercise classes.
  • Maintain accurate records of resident participation, progress, and treatment adherence.
