THE ROLE:
The primary role of the Physiotherapy Therapy Head of Discipline (HoD) is to provide clinical governance and clinical supervision to physiotherapists working in Adult Services and in Childrens Services under the PDS model within the Brothers of Charity Services lead agency CDNTs in CHO4, Cork and Kerry. The person appointed will be required to have a clear understanding of, and commitment to, the role of the Physiotherapy HoD and have inherent knowledge of clinical needs, prioritisation and caseload management to ensure quality service provision within resources available. The role requires strong, proactive leadership and governance, together with a commitment to supporting the delivery of services whilst enabling, empowering and inspiring people.
The role will have an assignment of 0.6 wte for Head of Discipline duties and will carry an adult clinical caseload or a children’s caseload in a CDNT where appointment is in excess of 0.6wte. Where the caseload is with a CDNT the postholder’s line manager will be the Childrens Disability Network Manager for that element of the role.
ROLE OF THE HEAD OF DISCIPLINE
In PDS, the Physiotherapy HoD is a proactive member of the Brothers of Charity Services clinical governance group and will contribute to the strategic planning and further development of the CDNTs, as required under the PDS model and policies. The person appointed will work collaboratively with the Children’s Disability Network Managers (CDNMs) and their Sector Manager, Heads of Disciplines (HODs) and Director of Service (DOS) in ensuring a quality, best-practice service provision to children and their families within the CDNTs. The person appointed will support the CDNMs in providing clinical assurance and governance regarding Physiotherapy practice and will work with all stakeholders to provide quality service delivery within Brothers of Charity Services CDNTs in Cork and Kerry.
In Adult Services, the Physiotherapy HoD is responsible for the line management, and clinical assurance and governance, of the physiotherapists working in the BOCSI-SR.
The Physiotherapy HoD is also a member of senior management team, and contributes to strategic planning, Development of Policy Procedures and Guidelines for the organisation and represents the Physiotherapy Discipline at management level within the organisation
