Description The Girl Scout mission is to build girls of courage, confidence, and character, who make the world a better place. Behind every Girl Scout and volunteer is a team of local staff ready to help them earn that next badge, embark on a camping adventure, or organize an impactful service project. We are Girl Scouts of Northern New Jersey (GSNNJ) serving girls in grades K-12 in Bergen, Morris, Passaic, Sussex and northern Warren counties. We bring the Girl Scout Leadership Experience to 19,000 girls and 10,200 adult members. We are seeking an entrepreneurial and results-driven Pickleball Coach & Program Manager to design, launch, and manage a pickleball program at our 300-acre Lake Rickabear Day camp. This position will oversee & implement the development of a sustainable, revenue-generating pickleball business, including lessons, leagues, tournaments, rentals, retreats and open play, while aligning with the Girl Scouts’ mission. This role will ensure the program contributes to the council’s revenue goals and work collaboratively with the outdoor program and camp team Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Program Development: Design and implement pickleball lesson series and continuously refine a comprehensive pickleball program portfolio. Personally deliver the pickleball programming on-site at Lake Rickabear Camp. Develop & oversee open-play schedules, leagues, and tournament opportunities. Develop & oversee court rentals and Pickleball retreats Design and offer pickleball classes to kids during our summer camp season. Staffing Facilitate pickleball sessions and offer a great learning experience Hire qualified teaching professionals to run pickleball programs as the program expands, meets demands and achieves revenue goals. Train, coach and educate staff of pickleball instructors on all pickleball instructional and administrative related matters on a daily basis and at weekly meetings when applicable. Mentor and be a resource for pickleball coaches. Operations & Technology: Research and implement scheduling and payment systems for program registration and court reservations. Oversee the maintenance of pickleball courts and facilities, including lighting and amenities. Maintain cleanliness, organization, and safety of sports equipment and shed. Maintain strict safety procedures set forth by GSNNJ. Conduct safety orientation of equipment and safety procedures. Revenue Generation: Establish pricing for lessons, open play, and other activities to ensure profitability. Build partnerships and sponsorship opportunities to enhance the program. Marketing & Outreach: In coordination with the Marketing Team, develop and execute a marketing strategy to attract local players of all skill levels Provide concierge-type consultation services to all members and guests relating to pickleball programming. This is a part-time seasonal role ( now through November) with15 -25 hours weekly, and not eligible for benefits Requirements Strong knowledge of the overall pickleball and recreational industry Strong Business Acumen and Entrepreneurial mindset with a focus on revenue generation. Minimum of two (2) years experience of pickleball instruction Proven experience in sports program development or recreation management Minimum two (2) years experience in customer facing roles, motivating and engaging with participants and families Familiarity with pickleball, including the ability to engage certified professionals. Strong organizational, project management, and leadership skills. Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed. Alignment with the Girl Scout mission and values. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds. Experience working with children. Membership in GSUSA is required upon employment and annually thereafter. (Cost is covered by Girl Scouts of Northern New Jersey) Must be able to work in a rustic camp environment with limited access to electricity, cell phone service and internet.
