Base Salary Range: starting at $62/hour plus flight pay, commensurate on experience
Forest Protection Limited is inviting applications for seasonal air tanker pilots for the 2026 season running from 6 April 2026 to 15 September 2026. Based in Fredericton, New Brunswick, and reporting to the Chief Pilot, pilots will operate during the wildfire season and fulfill the following tasks:

Job Description:

  • Act as Pilot in Command of FPL aircraft in support of company projects or business, including Aerial Fire Suppression.
  • Exercise sound decision making and safely operate assigned aircraft in accordance with the Aircraft Flight Manual, Company Operations Manual, Fire Suppression Manual, Emergency Response Manual, and other procedures and policies, as applicable.
  • When assigned to fire suppression duty, safely adhere to direction from Air Attack Officers, Flight Operations Management, and Team Leaders.
  • Participate in After Action Reviews following fire operations.
  • Successfully complete mandatory ground and flight training programs and pass check ride.
  • Understand and adhere to company personnel policies.
  • Wear clothing appropriate to FPL operations, including a flight suit, helmet, as well as appropriate footwear and gloves.
  • Maintain assigned aircraft’s cleanliness at all times, washing as required.
  • Report aircraft defects and items requiring maintenance as soon as practical.
  • Complete and submit all aircraft paperwork associated with a flight daily
  • Be adaptable, given the nature of FPL’s operations.
  • Be an active participant in the company safety program.
  • Act with professionalism at all times. Adhere to FPL Respectful Workplace Policy, Alcohol and Substance Abuse Policy and others as applicable.
  • Carry out other duties assigned by Flight Operations Management.

QUALIFICATIONS

The successful candidate must have:

  • Commercial Pilot License or ATPL -Fixed wing
  • 2500hrs PIC
  • 2000 Float PIC – 200 amphib
  • 1500hrs float acceptable if candidate also possesses 500hrs in turbine powered tailwheel aircraft
  • 1000hrs turbine
  • A valid IFR is an asset

Preference will be given to candidates having experience with turbine engines and low altitude operations such as aerial application or fire suppression.

OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

All applicants must:

  • Be legally permitted to work in Canada in the Federal Aviation sector
  • Hold a Canadian Commercial Pilot – Fixed Wing license or the Transport Canada-recognized international equivalent.
  • Hold a Canadian Category 1 medical certificate.
  • Have flying experience within the last 12 months.
  • Successfully complete FPL ground and flight training program, including a pilot competency check.
  • Be able to communicate clearly and effectively in English.
  • Be capable of obtaining a clean Criminal Background Check.
  • Hold a valid Canadian driver license or a federally recognized international license.
  • Capable of obtaining a clean Driver Abstract.
  • Hold a passport valid for at least 30 days after the end of any employment.
  • Have a modern smartphone with an up-to-date operating system capable of running secure company communication apps, as well as a laptop or device capable of accessing email and suitable for reading small print, such as for exams
  • Have CSA approved footwear
