JOB SUMMARY

The Pipe Welder, 2nd shift will plan, lay-out, weld, install test, and repair all types of pipe and similar tubular products in accordance with all applicable plans, specifications, codes, and industry standards. They will also work in other crafts at levels appropriate to training and skills as requested by supervision.

REQUIREMENTS

  • High School Diploma (or GED or High School Equivalence Certificate)
  • 3+ years’ welding experience preferred.
  • Must pass the prescribed weld test.
  • Comprehend documents such as safety rules, operating maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to understand information, ideas, direction and then be able to perform the task or project discussed.
  • Must have a working knowledge of various welding codes, specifications, techniques, and methods.
  • Must be familiar with properties of metal machining, weld shrinkage and welding techniques.
  • Ability to lift and carry materials weighing up to 50 pounds on a regular basis.
  • Must be able to tolerate frequent standing, walking, bending, stooping, kneeling, and crouching throughout the workday.
  • Capability to push, pull, grasp, and reach with hands and arms.
  • Ability to operate hand and power tools safely and effectively.
  • Must be able to wear and operate the required personal protective equipment (PPE), such as hard hats, safety glasses, and gloves.
