Strengthen your coded welding capability across major shutdowns, heavy industrial piping, and refinery environments. About the Role We are seeking experienced Pipe Welders for the upcoming AMPOL Refinery Turnaround. You will work alongside Pipe Fitters, Boilermakers, Supervisors and UGL/Ampol leadership to complete high quality coded welds, piping repairs, and shutdown maintenance activities. The turnaround runs from August – September 2026, working a 6 days on / 1 day off roster Night shift on 50%25 of scope. Employee benefits, rewards, and long-term career pathways Key Responsibilities • Perform coded welding on pipework to refinery specifications including GTAW, SMAW and other processes as required. • Execute: – Pipe welding and fabrication. – Joint preparation, fit up and alignment in collaboration with Pipe Fitters – Structural and pressure retaining welds. – Valve, line and fitting reinstatement. – Hydrotesting preparation and reinstatement • Read, interpret, and follow welding work packs, WPS/PQRs, isometric drawings and QA requirements. • Ensure compliance with welding heat control, preheat, post weld and consumable handling requirements. • Work closely with NDE/NDT teams to support weld inspections, testing and repair processes. • Adhere to relevant Permit to Work, isolation and hot work procedures. • Participate in risk assessments, toolbox meetings, and ongoing field safety engagements. • Ensure high welding quality, documentation accuracy, and timely progress across shutdown work fronts. About You • Trade qualified Welder, Boilermaker or Fabrication professional. • MANDATORY: Weld test or welding certification completed within the last 6 months. • Experience in oil refining, gas/chemical facilities, power, or heavy industrial shutdowns. • Proven experience in pipe welding, fabrication, hydrotesting support, valves, fittings, and mechanical reinstatement. • Strong understanding of refinery welding standards, metallurgy, welding processes, and defect control. • Familiar with NDE/NDT processes and quality control requirements. • Excellent awareness of high-risk work controls including hot work, isolation, confined space, and W@H. • Safety driven, reliable and capable in high pressure shutdown conditions. • Able to work effectively within a diverse welding and piping team.
