Description:

Lake Superior Consulting is seeking a Pipeline Engineer IV to join our team!
The Pipeline Engineer IV will be responsible for pipeline related design and construction projects from inception through to delivery. Projects will be multi-disciplined covering civil, mechanical, and electrical aspects, with a strong focus on the utilities area of the business. Responsible for the successful delivery of each project through management of internal staff, external contractors, financial control, and strong management of change.
Proficient in several aspects of the industry. Can lead moderate to large sized projects and makes decisions and recommendations on technical or complex issues. Exercises considerable judgment and initiative in interpreting policy in the planning and implementation of major work assignments.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil or mechanical engineering field, from an accredited university.
  • Minimum 4 years of relevant experience.
  • PE preferred.
  • Ability to travel up to 25% of the time for construction and operational field support.
  • Strong analytical and communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite.
  • Oil and gas industry experience preferred.
  • Extensive knowledge of applicable State and Federal regulatory requirements that govern the oil and natural gas pipeline industry (49 CFR Parts 192 & 195) and various ASME and API standards
  • Project management experience.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND DEMANDS:

  • The job requires the ability to sit for extended periods at a computer workstation. Routinely use standard office equipment such as but not limited to: computers, phones, copiers, and filing cabinets. The employee is frequently required to stand, talk, and hear.
  • Frequent periods of standing for long periods.
  • Occasional lifting in up to 50lbs.
  • Exposure to weather including heat and cold climates.
  • Ability to work long hours and possible overtime when projects demand.
    As required by multiple state pay transparency laws, Lake Superior Consulting provides a reasonable range of compensation for each job posting. Actual compensation is influenced by an array of factors including, but not limited to, skill set, years of experience, and specific office/market location. The range of starting pay for this role is $89,000 - $132,800 per year.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for managing the development of a variety of pipeline projects.
  • Collaborate with engineering departments to create optimal designs.
  • Identify possible problems to ensure pipeline designs are operable.
  • Provide technical assistance to different departments to resolve operational difficulties.
  • Provide leadership and training.
  • Maintain knowledge about pipeline design technologies and simulation tools.
  • Provide technical supervision and technical assistance to other divisions within the company.
  • Responsible for assigned projects being completed within financial and scheduling constraints, as well as being in compliance with regulatory, environmental, health and safety requirements.
  • Provide leadership to project team and ensure reporting requirements are met.
  • Ensures that the knowledge of decisions, assumptions and execution plans made are accurately documented, understood and communicated.
  • Develops innovative and creative project solutions that match customer needs with profitable strategic growth opportunities, often providing options that permit customer flexibility and choice.
  • Discuss and solve complex problems with manufacturing departments, sub-contractors, suppliers and customers.
  • Directly manage or assist in the implementation of projects related to process control data communication systems.
  • Responsible for the quality, cost, scope and schedules for all work performed by consultants and contractors
