Role Accountabilities Develop, manage, and analyze spatial data and geodatabases to support pipeline route selection, design, and project planning. Produce high-quality maps, alignment sheets, and visualizations for reports, construction, and stakeholder engagement using GIS tools (ArcGIS, QGIS). Integrate GIS data with other engineering, environmental, and survey datasets across multidisciplinary teams. Conduct spatial analysis, including terrain modeling, risk assessment, environmental impact, land use planning, and regulatory compliance checks. Establish and maintain GIS standards, workflows, and data management tools to ensure data integrity, quality, and security. Collaborate closely with pipeline engineers, project managers, and other technical disciplines to meet project requirements and deadlines. Automate data processing, reporting, and mapping tasks using scripting (e.g., Python) and advanced GIS functions. Provide technical guidance, training, and mentorship to junior GIS analysts and team members. Support stakeholder engagement, permitting, and regulatory submissions by preparing accurate geospatial deliverables. Stay up to date with the latest GIS technologies, tools, and industry best practices, and drive continuous improvement initiatives within the team. Liaise with global teams and contribute to knowledge sharing through the Global Excellence Centre (GEC). Qualifications and Experience Bachelor’s degree in Geodetic Engineering, Geography, Environmental Science or a related discipline. Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in GIS for pipeline, utilities, energy, or infrastructure projects. Proficient in GIS software and tools, such as ArcGIS, QGIS, and related spatial analysis platforms. Demonstrated experience in spatial data management, geodatabase design, and integration of GIS with engineering and environmental datasets. Strong skills in map production, alignment sheets, and spatial visualization for technical and non-technical audiences. Experience with GIS automation and scripting (Python, ModelBuilder, FME) for data processing and workflow optimization. With understanding of pipeline design processes, regulatory requirements, and industry standards as they pertain to spatial data management. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills. Experience collaborating in multidisciplinary project teams and working with remote/global stakeholders. Commitment to ongoing professional development and keeping up to date with emerging GIS technologies and best practices. Highly Regarded Skills Experience with remote sensing, GPS field data collection, and integration of survey data. Knowledge of CAD platforms (AutoCAD, MicroStation) and interoperability with GIS. Familiarity with Australian pipeline regulations and environmental permitting processes. Previous experience in piping design is preferred. Why Arcadis?
