KEY SKILLS:

  • Exceptional analytical and interpersonal skills
  • Strong project management and prioritization skills
  • Knowledge of project management principles and processes
  • Ability to mentor junior project managers, project engineers, and project team staff
  • High degree of familiarity with contract/rate negotiations and reviews.
  • Previous experience managing multiple projects/initiatives and communicating project goals, objectives, and accomplishments to all levels of an organization
  • Proven pipeline engineering expertise and competency
  • Experience with pipeline system design and construction based on CSA Z662 code
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, and Project)

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical or Civil engineering and professional engineering status
  • 5 - 10 years of pipeline engineering and/or project management related experience
  • Experience in coordinating/leading project proposals
  • Member of APEGA (other jurisdictions an asset)
  • Familiarity with engineering standards relevant to the oil and gas pipeline industry (including CSA, ASME, API, and Alberta Pipeline Rules, etc.)
  • Experience with Canadian jurisdictions and their various acts and regulations
  • Project Management Certification (PMP) is considered an asset
  • References available upon request.

Responsibilities
  • Leadership of a project team to achieve delivery of engineering tasks on-schedule & on-budget
  • Develop project proposals, resource plans, project execution plans, and quality plans
  • Maintain project schedules by monitoring project progress, risks, costs and scope
  • Accountable for managing project performance against approved budget, schedule, quality, and safety requirements
  • Review and contribute to project contract/rate negotiations
  • Communicate project progress reports to all stakeholders and lead client bi-weekly update meetings
  • Establish and maintain positive client relationships
  • Understand and ensure that customer expectations related to project scope are met and exceeded
  • Proactively employ project change and risk management
  • Review of RFQs, contracts and drafting proposals
  • Occasional travel to project sites
  • Other duties as assigned
