DAY-TO-DAY

As an Pipeline System Engineer, you’ll lead the technical development and preconstruction planning of multiple pipeline and facility projects. You’ll be responsible for scoping, risk mitigation, design coordination, and preparing projects for seamless handover to construction. This role demands a broad skill set and the ability to manage diverse topics—from geohazards to electromagnetic field impacts—across 6–12 active projects.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 5+ years in pipeline/facility design and project engineering (owner/operator or EPCM).
  • Strong field experience and familiarity with BC Energy Regulator and Technical Safety BC.
  • Engineering degree (Mechanical, Process, or Chemical preferred); P.Eng. in BC or eligible.
  • Experience in hydraulic modeling, asset integrity, and natural gas compression.
  • Proven ability to manage consultants and multi-stakeholder projects.
  • Strong decision-making, communication, and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

Project Development & Technical Oversight

  • Advance pipeline projects to construction-ready status.
  • Assess pipeline crossings, layout options, and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Address geohazards (landslides, debris flows, river erosion) and electromagnetic field impacts from neighboring electrical projects.
  • Design and manage meter, regulator, and compressor stations.

Stakeholder Coordination

  • Collaborate with operations to define design basis and maintenance needs.
  • Engage construction teams early to align on execution plans.
  • Navigate land permitting and regulatory requirements.

Consultant & Third-Party Management

  • Lead 10–50 consultants through detailed design and procurement phases.
  • Review third-party crossing assessments and ensure compliance.
  • Liaise directly with external teams and internal stakeholders.

Hydraulic System Planning

  • Conduct capacity studies for new customer connections.
  • Support system planning and logistics for pipeline services.

Documentation & Compliance

  • Prepare and review technical documents (PFDs, P&IDs, hazard assessments, etc.).
  • Ensure alignment with CSA Z662, BCER, OGAA, and other regulatory standards.
  • Champion safety, quality, and process integrity across all phases.
