ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

We are currently seeking an experienced Pipe Fitter to add value to our Piping team. Reporting to the Production Piping Supervisor, you will play a pivotal role in applying Piping knowledge to the Maintenance program of the Collins Class submarines to further assist in the development and management of ASC’s long-term strategy.

To be considered for this permanent full-time opportunity you will demonstrate experience across the following accountabilities:

  • Demonstrated expertise in reading and interpreting structural drawings.
  • White card.
  • A sound knowledge of varied piping and fabrication trade related techniques.
  • Demonstrated expertise in ensuring quality and high technical standards.
  • Ideally a minimum of 5 years’ experience in the Fabrication / Piping of large complex engineering, shipbuilding and construction projects.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the Pipe Fabrication and Welding Fields.
  • Indentured Apprenticeship or Traineeship with a background in Boilermaking / Piping or similar preferably with a post trade certificate.
  • Demonstrated experience in the fabrication/plumbing and Pipe-bending / Pressure Vessels, plate work and large complex structures. Heavy Engineering experience will also be looked upon favourably.
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of all types of fabrication and associated welding processes and their applications.
  • Demonstrated experience in using different welding process e.g. Copper Brazing, GMAW, GTAW, MMAW.
  • Proven ability to participate in the training and development of apprentices and operators as required.
  • Demonstrated experience in supporting continuous improvement strategies across all areas of influence and responsibility
