Description
Company Description We’re looking for a dough-tossing, crust-loving Pizza Chef with a passion for fresh dough, bold toppings, and that perfect wood-fired oven, ready to keep the pizza rolling at The Hoxton, Edinburgh. Reporting to the Executive Chef, you’ll be responsible for all things pizza, day-to-day production, quality checks and making sure every slice hits the spot. We’ve opened our doors in Edinburgh’s charming West End - our very first Hox in Scotland. Set across 11 beautiful Georgian townhouses, we’re home to 214 bedrooms, a lively open lobby and bar, an all-day Italian trattoria Patatino, a retro-inspired cinema, a flexible and super-size event space called The Get Together, and The Apartment – our unique signature spot for meetings, private dinners and memorable gatherings. Patatino is our all-day Italian trattoria serving fresh pasta, wood-fired pizzas, and all the spritzes and Italian wines you could wish for. Inspired by the glam and romance of the sun-soaked Amalfi coast, it’s a spot for long, joyful meals with friends, where old-school charm meets modern design, with bold colours, cosy corners, and plenty of personality. More about us… The Hoxton is a series of open-house hotels, each in a neighbourhood that we love. Ever since we opened our first hotel in Shoreditch, we’ve never just been about offering a bed for the night. We want to be more than that: proving style doesn’t need to be sacrificed for good value and providing a place where guests can hang out alongside the locals and submerse themselves in the neighbourhood with vibrant, welcoming public spaces. Job Description What's in it for you... Become part of a team that’s very passionate about creating great hospitality experiences. Competitive salary. 29 days holiday (including bank holidays), pension and life insurance. Food on us during your shift. Enjoy a free night at The Hoxton and a meal for two when you first start with us. Training to get you settled into your role with ongoing development that helps you think, make and thrive to set you up for success at work. Time off to volunteer with one of our partner charities. Hox Hero and Nifty Fifty, our rewards for going the extra mile and living our values. An annual diversity and inclusion calendar of events creating opportunities for you to learn, celebrate and make a positive impact. Regular team get togethers, from our High Fives to our (pretty special!) team parties – we know how to have a good time! The chance to challenge the norm and work in an environment that is both creative and rewarding. Join an innovative, fast-growing, international group that is shaking things up on the hospitality scene. Excellent discounts across The Hoxton and the global Ennismore family. What you’ll do… Support the Executive Chef in leading a large, dynamic kitchen team. Create, execute, and produce top-notch food with a constant eye on the highest quality standards, presentation, and flavour. Nurture and develop the talent of the kitchen team, creating an environment that brings out the best in them and where they can be themselves. Make sure things are running without a hitch, orders and deliveries are coming and going as needed, our service is smooth as chipotle butter, and our food hygiene standards are sky-high. Work with our Executive Chef to craft proper, authentic pizzas - with a nod to our Scottish roots. Think bold flavour combinations, locally sourced ingredients, and seasonal twists that keep things fresh and full of character. Ensure statutory compliance in all food and drink related areas. Think outside the box and drive standards, always striving to find efficient solutions whilst maintaining the quality and integrity of the menu. Both guest and team experience will be at the heart of all you do. You’ll lead your team by example, keeping them involved and motivated; helping them feel empowered and supported, confident in providing top Hox experiences for our guests and comfortable turning to you with questions. What we’re looking for… Individuals. You’re looking for a place where you can be you; no clones in chef whites here. Passion for hospitality – whether that’s a drink, a meal, an event or a bed for the night. You’re all about having a positive impact on the people you interact with, leaving them with a memorable experience. You’re not precious. We leave our egos at the door and help get things done. You’re up for doing things differently and trying (almost) everything once. If we got stuck in a lift together, we’d have a good time and share a few laughs. You want to be part of a team that works hard, supports each other, and has fun along the way. Previous experience as a Pizza Chef in a busy, bustling environment with freshness and provenance of ingredients as a key priority. Passion for food is a given, knowing what’s hot, what’s not and who’s who. You’ve got solid experience in pizza production - from perfecting dough preparation to finishing pizzas in a gas oven, all while keeping quality front and centre. Ability to take ownership of important issues, solve problems and make effective decisions. Proven track record managing large kitchen teams. A true passion for creativity whilst maintaining the integrity of our brand standards through the dishes on the menu. A natural at leading and managing others, you lead by example and create an environment where your team can be their best self. Job-Category: Culinary Job Type: Permanent Job Schedule: Full-Time
