JOB GOAL: The Instructional Coach is a critical lever in improving student achievement. The role of the Curriculum and Instruction Lead is to build teacher capacity and their understanding of instructional practices as related to MA Curriculum Frameworks, district curriculum standards, and Data Driven Instruction. A Curriculum and Instruction Lead is a learner who models continuous improvement, lifelong learning, and goes above and beyond to ensure student success. All Instructional Coaches Leads work collaboratively as a team with teachers, interventionists, Principals, and Directors.
Curriculum and Instruction Leads will promote reflection, provide guidance and structure where needed, and focus on strengths, collaboration and common issues of concern based on data and research-based educational practices. They are responsible for supporting high-quality instruction in classrooms through modeling, co-planning, co-teaching and providing feedback to teachers. This is NOT a supervisory position and DOES NOT include evaluation of colleagues. PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: 1.Support the instructional development of all teachers in understanding the district grade-level standards-based curriculum and varied assessments, the MA Curriculum Frameworks, and data analysis.2.Communicate and demonstrate research based, culturally responsive practices that result in increased student performance and improved classroom environment 3.Build strong relationships with teachers, paraprofessionals, administrators, and other Curriculum & Instruction Leads.
4.Provide direction and coordination for how the curriculum is taught consistent with District initiatives and research-based, culturally responsive practices. 5.Model lessons in classrooms on a daily/weekly basis. 6.Help ensure consistency and seamless transitions of programming and instruction among and between grade levels7.Facilitate and coordinate grade-level curriculum design, development, and documentation to be maintained in District Curriculum Google Drive.8.Assist teachers in understanding the District mission, vision,core values, and strategic plan. 9.Provide technical support to collaborative teams within buildings.
10.Assist teachers with resources, materials, tools, information, etc. to support classroom instruction and planning, including new resources. 11.Support teachers and administrators in using data to improve instruction on all levels. 12.Assist teachers with planning and pacing of units/lessons, the development of differentiated lessons, and the selection of best practices to meet the needs of all students.
13.Support teachers by helping with the strategic how of teaching. Share multiple instructional strategies/processes with teachers.14.Instruct and support teachers with curriculum software products, and classroom/curriculum related technologies 15.Informally observe (non-evaluative) lessons and provide feedback for a teachers professional growth and students success. 16.Develop staff members knowledge, skills, attitudes, and behaviors through a variety of professional development targeted topics and designs. 17.Develop coaching plans for teachers to ensure student improvement.
18.Utilize Adult Learning Theory to motivate adult learners to improve professional practice. 19.Contribute to the development systems and structures to improve teacher practice within schools. 20.Provide job-embedded informal professional learning beyond the coaching responsibility. 21.Design and provide ongoing Professional Development.22.Participate as a learner in professional development.23.Attend summer training sessions.
24.Partticipate in grade-level data analysis 3 times per year as part of school and district data team meetings. 25.Provide tutorials/supports for parents/caretakers integrating district instructional technology tools that students use at home26.Participate in department, school, district, and parent meetings27.Maintain a digital daily/weekly coaching log and any pertinent data requests/coaching documentation.28.Create an articulated schedule with building & district administration. 29.Provide timely and consistent communication between teachers and administration (Principals & Directors)30.Perform related duties as directed by the building principals and/or the Director of Curriculu
