Description

HOME BASED WITH NATIONAL TRAVEL

Are you passionate about transforming communities through physical activity, play, and sport? Do you have the vision and leadership to embed these elements into education systems and inspire long-term impact? The Youth Sport Trust is looking for a proactive individual to lead our place-based work and shape the future of local and national practice.
As our Place Development Manager – Education, you will lead the integration of physical activity, play, and school sport into education systems in key locations across the UK. You will provide tailored support to local areas and lead a remote team of Placemakers to co-create and deliver innovative, education-focused solutions.
A core part of your role will be capturing, evaluating, and sharing insights from local initiatives to inform the Youth Sport Trust’s strategy, enhance delivery models, and support continuous learning across the sector. You’ll also build and sustain cross-sector partnerships to strengthen local impact and ensure our expertise contributes to national thinking on place-based approaches.
To succeed in this role, you will have proven experience and a strong understanding of place-based working, with a track record of leading local collaboration to reduce inequalities in access to play and sport.
You’ll bring credibility from experience in schools or sports development and will be confident working within complex systems to influence meaningful change. You’ll be analytical and insight-driven, capable of managing delivery, interpreting grant and contract information, and using data to shape our internal strategy and national learning across the sector.
Crucially, you will be a compelling communicator—able to build partnerships, engage diverse audiences, and represent the Youth Sport Trust’s mission with clarity and impact. You’ll need to be organised, self-motivated, and comfortable working both independently and as part of a remote team, with strong prioritisation skills and the ability to deliver under pressure.
If you are motivated by equity, driven by purpose, and passionately believe that schools/Education settings are critical contributors to a community’s health and development, we want to hear from you.
The Youth Sport Trust is a passionate and forward-thinking organisation full of committed professionals. As a member of the team, we guarantee you will feel very much part of our mission and will experience fun, challenge and fulfilment in your role. Our values underpin everything we do, and we pride ourselves on a work culture which fosters innovation, creativity and personal passion. Benefits include generous annual leave entitlement, health cash plan, employee assistance programme and volunteering days.
