POSITION SUMMARY:

United Way Thunder Bay is seeking a passionate and community-driven individual to serve as the Planet Youth Thunder Bay Coordinator. This role is central to implementing the Icelandic Prevention Model (IPM) locally and helping to create a healthier, more supportive environment for youth. As the lead point of contact for Planet Youth Thunder Bay (PYTB), the Coordinator will work closely with local, regional, and national partners to champion youth well-being, drive collaboration, and guide the strategic roll-out of this internationally recognized model.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Deep knowledge of the Thunder Bay community and existing relationships with community partners.
  • Proven experience in community coordination, partnership development, or facilitation.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills.
  • Experience working with or within coalitions, nonprofits, public health, education, or youth development sectors.
  • Strong organizational and project management abilities.
  • Comfort and confidence working with diverse populations.
  • Knowledge of or willingness to learn about the Icelandic Prevention Model and the Planet Youth Guidance Program.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with digital collaboration tools (e.g., Zoom, Teams, shared drives).
Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary liaison for PYTB implementation in Thunder Bay.
  • Facilitate regular coalition and working group meetings with a diverse network of community partners across health, education, Indigenous organizations, youth services, and more.
  • Build and maintain meaningful partnerships that foster equity, inclusion, and shared leadership.
