PLANNING DIRECTOR / TEAM LEADER - HOUSTON, TX

Halff, is seeking to immediately hire an experienced Planning Team Leader to lead the growing team in the Houston, Texas, office. This is a rare opportunity to lead a team of planners, designers, and project managers to help communities plan for their future. The Halff Houston team is increasingly involved in a variety of exciting community enhancement projects across Texas and in nearby states.
The responsibilities of this leadership position include oversight of the Houston team and facilitation of our efforts to deliver award-winning projects. Projects will include comprehensive plans, parks and trails planning, downtown and special area plans, mobility planning, codes and development guidance, and much more.
The ideal candidate will be able to balance client, company and project team responsibilities, including strategic pursuits and marketing, project leadership, team representation, oversight and preparation of high-quality documents and deliverables, and interactive public engagement.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Regional/Urban Planning, Architecture, Landscape Architecture, or a closely related field
  • Minimum 10 years of professional experience in a planning capacity
  • Well organized, detail-oriented individual with strong leadership and relationship skills
  • Comfortable with public speaking and community engagement
  • Strong writing and communication skills
  • Familiarity and experience with computer programs such as GIS, Adobe Creative Suite, and Office
  • The ability to travel periodically to client communities
