The Place: The Woodlands Division of Aspen Planers Ltd in Merritt BC is currently accepting resumes for a Planning Forester to begin immediately.
The Position: Aspen Planers Ltd. is seeking a dynamic, self-starting, team-orientated individual to serve
as a Planning Forester. This is a permanent, full-time position working under the direction and
supervision of the company’s Planning Manager – Woodlands. While this position requires significant
office time, flexible field time is also a requirement as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • ABCFP Registered Forest Technologist or Registered Professional Forester designation
  • 3 – 5 years of work experience as a Forestry Planner with the responsibilities identified
  • Strong Knowledge of BC Forestry Legislation, policy and proceduresCapable of directing and managing staff and contractors in planning related duties
  • Strong understanding, knowledge, and implementation of efficient and cost-effective operations in business
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organization skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team in a changing environment.

Responsibilities
  • Take the lead in maintaining Aspens environmental certification programs
  • Lead the implementation and maintenance of Aspens Forest Stewardship Plan
  • Take the lead on producing and reviewing company site and harvest plans to a high professional standard
  • Ensure that all planning documents and associated records and documentation are accurately and thoroughly prepared and submitted
  • Lead stakeholder and First Nations referrals/information sharing summaries to ensure effective, thorough, and efficient approvals are obtained
  • Attend Timber Supply Area (TSA) meetings, including active participation in specific committees.
  • Take the lead on managing and implementing current forest policy and legislation in operationsmanaged by Aspen Planers
