This role combines creativity, technology, and hands-on fieldwork to make a real impact. GENERAL PURPOSE: Under the supervision of the Director of Planning, assist with planning, design, and development of park projects in support of the Planning Manager. Update and maintain the District’s GIS database and Planning files. Support in the implementation of the Master Plan. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: • Conduct site visits to inventory park sites and observe and record site conditions • Maintains and updates park inventory data in GIS database • Updates Park site inventory data sheets • Assist with park design and planning graphics and presentations • Follow District and department safety, personnel, and administrative policies, procedures and ordinances • Performs any additional related tasks as required. Requirements • Attending a University or College for a Landscape Architecture, Planning, Environmental Science or related degree. • Proficient in AutoCAD, GIS, Photoshop, Adobe Suite and Microsoft Office. • Must be detail oriented to be able to process information accurately. • Must have strong interpersonal skills and work well with the public and other staff. • Ability to follow direction and work independently. • Valid driver’s license required. • Exceptional communication skills and customer service skills.
Responsibilities
The intern will assist the Director of Planning with the design and development of park projects, including updating and maintaining the District’s GIS database and Planning files. Essential duties involve conducting site visits to inventory park conditions and assisting with park design graphics and presentations.
