Description

OVERVIEW

Conveyor Units Limited is the largest conveyor and roller manufacturer in the UK, producing over 2.5 million rollers and more than 45 km of conveyors annually. With over 60 years of British engineering excellence and modular conveyor systems serving global blue‑chip companies, we pride ourselves on quality, innovation, and a culture of growth and loyalty.
We are now seeking a strong-minded, proactive Planning Manager to lead our planning function. You will transform customer orders into precise build plans across all manufacturing areas. Initially, planning will be Excel-based—but we’re targeting a future-ready transition to a full MRP system.
You’ll thrive here if you’re a rapid learner, confident leader, and comfortable in fast-paced environments such as automotive or complex manufacturing.

EXPERIENCE

  • Successfully managed production planning across multiple areas, delivered on tight deadlines and managed competing priorities.
  • Proven ability to train, coach, and develop operational teams.
  • Experience working effectively within cross-functional leadership structures.
Responsibilities
  • Order Translation & Scheduling: Translate incoming customer orders into detailed build plans and production schedules.
  • Capacity & Resource Planning: Allocate materials, machine, and labour capacity to meet delivery targets and prevent bottlenecks.
  • Systems Evolution: Use Excel daily now but be actively involved in future MRP system implementation and governance.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Liaise with sales, production, procurement, and logistics to maintain alignment and resolve issues.
  • Team Leadership & Development: Recruit, lead, and grow a motivated planning team—conduct training, coaching and build technical skills.
  • Performance & Improvement: Monitor plan performance, identify deviations, and drive continuous process improvements and efficiencies.
