PLANNING MANAGER - SOLAR PV & BESS DEVELOPER

Our client is a leading Solar PV and Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) developer, dedicated to accelerating the UK’s transition to clean energy. They specialise in delivering large-scale renewable energy solutions and are seeking an experienced Planning Manager to support the development of utility-scale projects across the UK.
As the Planning Manager, you will be responsible for managing the planning process through to securing consent. You will lead the preparation of planning applications, support Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA), and all supporting documents. This role involves close collaboration with local authorities, landowners, and key stakeholders to ensure projects progress smoothly and adhere to UK planning regulations.
They currently has over 2.5GW of projects the development pipeline. Their ambition is to scale this portfolio significantly and they’re well placed to do so having raised significant capital for development.
Location: London -The role is hybrid, working 3 days a week in the office.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Degree in Planning – essential.
  • Experience in renewables developments – desirable.
  • 3-5 years of experience in a comparable position.
  • Familiarity with planning regulations and policies in the UK, including TCPA and DCO planning applications.
  • Experience of NSIP projects – desirable.

Responsibilities
  • Oversee the planning process for Solar PV and BESS projects from site identification to consent.
  • Prepare and manage planning applications, Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA), and supporting documents.
  • Liaise with local authorities, landowners, and stakeholders to ensure smooth project progression.
  • Manage external consultants and represent the company at public consultations and planning committee meetings.
  • Provide strategic planning advice and ensure compliance with UK planning regulations.
