Description

OWN THE NUMBERS. LEAD THE FUTURE.

MD, a subsidiary of Vitalus, is looking for a hands-on financial leader who thrives in fast-paced manufacturing and wants to shape plant performance at every level.
At MDI, we’re proud to be a critical part of Canada’s dairy industry — and we’re just getting started. As we grow, we need a strategic, detail-driven Plant Controller to lead all financial operations at our facility and ensure full alignment with our corporate office, VNI. This role is more than number crunching: it’s about turning data into action, building strong partnerships across departments, and helping us meet high performance, compliance, and growth goals. If you’re motivated by impact, collaboration, and continuous improvement, you’ll thrive here.

Responsibilities
  • Turn Data into Action
  • Analyze financial and operational data to influence daily decision-making and long-term strategy.
  • Provide insight on key business drivers, trends, and risks — and guide corrective action when needed.
  • Lead postmortem financial reviews to extract learnings from past initiatives and investments.
  • Hit the Numbers
  • Lead annual plant budgeting, forecasting, and business planning processes.
  • Ensure cash flow, cost control, and financial compliance with ASPE, GAAP, and VNI policies.
  • Calculate transfer pricing and prepare accurate, timely management reporting for senior leadership.
  • Raise the Bar
  • Implement and strengthen internal controls, financial processes, and compliance systems.
  • Oversee all accounting functions, reporting, and general ledger integrity.
  • Lead the audit process and maintain positive relationships with auditors and government authorities.
  • Lead with Purpose
  • Build and coach a high-performing accounting team.
  • Promote a culture of safety, respect, and accountability.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to support strong business operations and a healthy work environment.
