Description SUMMARY This position is responsible for manufacturing accounting and plant level financial analysis, with a primary focus on standard costing, bill of materials accuracy, production reporting, and cost variance analysis. The role serves as the primary finance partner to plant operations and production leadership and ensures that manufacturing activity is accurately reflected in the company’s financial results. The Plant Accounting Manager reports directly to the CFO and works closely with the Corporate Controller to support accurate inventory valuation and manufacturing related financial reporting. The role offers the opportunity to partner closely with operations in a growing manufacturing environment and to play a key role in improving cost visibility, operational insight, and decision support. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES · Own standard costing structure including material, labor, and overhead rates within the ERP system. · Maintain and govern bill of materials and routing accuracy in partnership with operations and engineering. · Lead cost roll updates and evaluate financial impact of standard cost changes. · Analyze and explain manufacturing variances including material usage, labor efficiency, overhead absorption, yield, scrap, and rework. · Ensure accurate inventory valuation and support reconciliation of inventory related balance sheet accounts. · Prepare and review manufacturing related journal entries including inventory adjustments, accruals, and cost reclasses. · Partner with the Corporate Controller during month end close to support timely and accurate manufacturing financial results. · Serve as the primary finance partner to plant leadership and operations management. · Participate in production meetings and provide financial insight into operational performance. · Support pricing analysis, run economics, and customer margin analysis related to manufacturing activities. · Develop and maintain plant level KPIs related to efficiency, yields, throughput, and cost performance. · Support SIOP, capacity planning, and production analytics as needed. · Own manufacturing master data governance including item setup, BOM structures, and cost related attributes. · Partner with IT and operations on ERP enhancements impacting manufacturing and costing. · Support internal and external audits related to inventory, costing methodology, and production processes. · Document costing methodologies and manufacturing accounting procedures to ensure consistency and clarity. FOOD SAFETY Responsible and required to notify management about actual or potential food safety issues; and empowered to act to resolve food safety issues within their scope of work. COMPUTER SKILLS: The ability to work effectively in a Microsoft Windows environment (Word, Excel, Outlook, and internal software programs), with advanced presentation skills and the ability to create and maintain spreadsheets. Experience with manufacturing ERP systems such as Syteline or similar required. CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES: CPA or CMA preferred. EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required. Five to eight years of manufacturing accounting or cost accounting experience required. Strong hands on experience with standard costing, BOMs, and variance analysis required. Experience partnering directly with operations in a manufacturing environment strongly preferred.
