SUMMARY The Plant Controller serves as the senior financial leader for Kids2’s wholly owned manufacturing facility in Jiujiang, China, supporting a ~$50MM annual revenue operation. This role combines plant controlling responsibilities with advanced financial planning and analysis (FP&A), providing strategic financial leadership, operational insights, and cost management expertise. The Plant Controller will be a key business partner to the Plant Manager and global finance leadership, driving performance, ensuring financial integrity, and supporting long-term growth and efficiency. This role also leads the local finance team and ensures robust compliance, internal controls, and risk mitigation. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 1. Financial Leadership & Strategic Partnership Act as the financial steward of the plant, ensuring accurate reporting, compliance, and strategic alignment. Partner with Plant Manager and global finance to drive operational excellence and financial performance. Lead cross-functional initiatives to improve cost structure, profitability, and asset utilization. 2. Financial Planning, Forecasting & Analysis Own the plant’s annual budget, quarterly forecasts, and monthly performance reviews. Develop and maintain dynamic financial models to support scenario planning and decision-making. Translate operational KPIs into actionable financial insights for leadership. 3. Cost Accounting & Manufacturing Analysis Oversee standard costing, BOMs, routings, and cost roll-ups in ERP systems. Perform detailed variance analysis (PPV, labor, overhead, scrap, yield) and root cause investigations. Lead cost reduction initiatives across materials, labor, and overhead. 4. Operational Efficiency & Productivity Analyze departmental and process-level productivity to identify improvement opportunities. Support Lean, Six Sigma, and Kaizen initiatives with financial impact assessments. Develop and maintain dashboards for throughput, efficiency, and waste reduction. 5. Capital Investment & Asset Management Evaluate and approve capital expenditure proposals using NPV, IRR, and payback metrics. Monitor project execution, budget adherence, and post-investment benefit realization. Ensure alignment of CapEx with strategic and operational priorities. 6. Financial Controls, Compliance & Risk Management Ensure full compliance with corporate accounting policies, internal controls, and regulatory requirements. Lead month-end close processes in coordination with local and regional accounting teams. Proactively identify and mitigate financial risks, including fraud, misstatement, and operational exposure. Support internal and external audits, ensuring timely resolution of findings and implementation of corrective actions. 7. Decision Support & Business Case Development Provide financial analysis for make vs. buy, insourcing/outsourcing, and supplier transitions. Assess impact of tariffs, FX, and material substitutions on cost and margin. Lead “what-if” modeling to support strategic and operational decisions. 8. Reporting & Communication Deliver clear, concise, and actionable financial reports to plant and corporate leadership. Present financial updates in weekly operations reviews and leadership meetings. Educate non-financial stakeholders on financial drivers and performance metrics. 9. Leadership & Team Management Lead, mentor, and develop the local finance team, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement. Set clear goals and expectations, conduct performance reviews, and support career development. Promote ethical standards, financial discipline, and operational transparency across the plant. QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE • 10+ years of progressive finance experience, with at least 5 years in a plant controller or manufacturing finance leadership role. • Proven leadership experience managing finance teams in a manufacturing environment. • Expertise in cost accounting, manufacturing operations, financial controls, and compliance. • Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills with a hands-on approach. • Analytical mindset with strong business acumen. • Ability to influence without direct authority. • High attention to detail with the ability to see the big picture. • Proactive problem solver who can operate in a fast-paced, result-oriented environment. EDUCATION & SKILLS • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field; CPA/ACCA/CMA preferred. • Strong understanding of cost accounting, manufacturing operations, and lean principles. • Advanced Excel and financial modeling skills; ERP experience required (SAP preferred). • Fluent in Mandarin and proficient in English. • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
