Dive into the inaugural year of the SeaWorld San Diego Summer Internship Program, an exciting new opportunity designed to give students meaningful, real-world experience in a dynamic theme park environment. As this inaugural year launches, interns will play an important role in shaping a program that will grow for years to come. Internships are open to undergraduate students who are currently pursuing a degree from an accredited college or university. What you get to do: Be the finance liaison for the Engineering department overseeing all aspects of labor and expense budgets. Budget Tracking/ Reconciling. Expense budgets as well as Expense reports Create and facilitate department budgets and working with shop leaders to accurately account for spending, cost projections, and all other aspects of the accounting process to accurately report as needed Be the requisitioner for all Plant Engineering Department (SharePoint, check requests, or other) SAP entries for requisitions as directed by Sr. and shop management. Responsible for preparing month end reporting and projected year end. Report should include accruals, reconciliations and responses to inquiries from all groups to facilitate the work needed for proper tracking and accounting Responsible for vendor access and compliance Maintain timely responses to vendors which can relate to invoices, payment status, receiving, badging, and all other aspects of the vendor relationship to execute work Responsible for department financial communication and accuracy: conducting weekly review meeting with Sr. Leadership Work closely with department areas to manage and track expenses Occasionally may assist other locations and areas throughout the park as needed. What it takes to succeed: Strong written/verbal communication skills; able to read, write and speak English. Strong ability to respond effectively to inquiries or complaints from team members, customers, regulatory agencies, or contractors. Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and SAP. Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong interpersonal abilities. Ability to ensure accurate follow-through on all aspects of contract compliance in accordance with corporate legal and capital project controls and procedures. What else is important: Must have a high school diploma or equivalent. Must be at least 18 years old Currently enrolled in an undergraduate program in engineering, mechanical field, and or aquatic field preferred. Must be able to list 50lbs, stand for long periods of time, and work in various weather conditions. Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays. Consistently practices safe work habits, including using personal protective equipment and lifting safety protocols. Willing to comply with all organizational grooming guidelines and employment standards. Valid driver’s license and the ability to obtain a park license. Hours: up to 40 hours per week; Monday-Friday with weekends & holidays as needed Availability: Must have 5 days of open availability, including weekends and holidays.
