Description:

This key role supports Ford’s environmental compliance and sustainability efforts across its Canadian manufacturing facilities (Oakville Assembly Plant, Windsor Engine Plant, and Essex Engine Plant). You’ll collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure regulatory compliance, optimize sustainability performance, and contribute to cost studies and the implementation of new vehicle programs. As the corporate Canadian manufacturing compliance lead, you’ll represent Ford, influencing the development of new environmental regulations through collaboration with the Canadian Vehicle Manufacturers’ Association (CVMA) and the Ministry of Environment, Climate Change and Parks (MECP). BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or equivalent. ( Successful candidates will be required to provide proof of degree completion for the highest level of education attained. If the degree was obtained from a school outside of Canada, an Education Credential Assessment report showing Canadian equivalency is also required.)
  • Minimum of 5 years of manufacturing experience.
  • Thorough knowledge and experience with environmental regulations relating to air, water, waste and material recovery/recycling.
  • Demonstrated ability to adapt and effectively respond to multiple demands, ambiguity, shifting priorities, and rapid change.
  • Ability to interface and communicate effectively with all levels of management.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Graduate/Master’s degree preferred.

Responsibilities:

  • Play a key role in ensuring facility environmental compliance by applying for and securing environmental operating permits, implementing and maintaining the Environmental Operating System, and achieving ISO14001 certification.
  • Provide environmental compliance, oversite, and consultation during the site construction, manufacturing engineering launch, and production operations applying the highest standards of environmental stewardship.
  • Represent Ford in facility environmental matters through interaction with regulatory departments, industry trade groups, professional organizations, non-governmental organizations, other OEMs, and the local community establishing trusted partnerships through transparent communications.
  • Influencing the development of new Canadian environmental regulations through collaboration with the Canadian Vehicle Manufacturers Association (CVMA) and the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change (MECC) and implementation through Ford’s regulatory deployment process.
  • Take action to create a more sustainable world by partnering with plant leadership, employees, and the local community to implement sustainability plans and achieve sustainability goals.
  • Stay updated on relevant national, provincial, local, and corporate environmental regulations.
  • Engage in planning discussions for new programs and products by conducting capacity planning cost analyses, reviewing environmental checklists, evaluating sustainability actions, and submitting funding requests for environmental projects.
  • Communicate the environmental compliance and sustainability cost and timing requirements for new programs.
  • Assist in achieving the objectives and targets of Global Environmental Strategies.
  • Develop innovative methods to minimize water usage, waste production, and material consumption.
  • Support the Ford Global Environmental Operating System (EOS) and ISO14001 Global Group Certification initiatives.
