We are seeking qualified individuals for the role of Plant Maintenance Engineer. Please note that this is not a fly-in, fly-out operation and will be based in Labrador West, NL. This position may require candidates to work a 7 on 7 off shift – 12-hour shifts (day/night).

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • The candidate must possess, at a minimum, a Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering
  • Must have 5 or more years of mining or heavy industry related experience
  • Should have engineering aptitude and knowledge of equipment maintenance best practices
  • Must possess the ability to function efficiently under pressure
  • Should be able to demonstrate ownership
  • Must work well in a team-based environment
  • Valid Driver’s License required

The following competencies or certifications will also be highly considered:

  • Maintenance Management Certification
  • Recognized competencies in “Root Cause Analysis” using systematic root cause analysis processes i.e., Tap Root, Apollo
  • Recognized competencies in lubrication and/or vibration monitoring (Level 1/2 Vibration, Level 1/2 Lubricant Analyst)

Responsibilities
  • Ensure timely and swift response to equipment failures. Collect valid, unsoiled failure data to enable timely and accurate failure investigation
  • Provide technical advice on maintenance execution. Lead and facilitate maintenance execution improvement opportunities to enable efficient equipment maintenance in optimum time
  • Document and validate equipment upgrades and changes. Generate reports and drawings for equipment upgrades and changes and communicate as appropriate
  • Evaluate and validate asset condition, estimate asset health, and predict upcoming failures
  • Act as Subject Matter Expert (SME) for maintenance personnel to lead technical discussions and debates
  • Perform RCA and failure investigations to better understand equipment failures. Plan and implement actions to eliminate root causes of equipment failures. Prevent failures from reoccurring
  • Promote industry best practices and enable efficient maintenance execution. Work closely with the maintenance team to eliminate maintenance bottlenecks
  • Assess the quality of work performed and compare it to work packages (standard work procedures), refine work packages if necessary
  • Understand and eliminate process and equipment design defects
  • Help in the management of existing and potential risks to achieve the strategic objectives of the organization regarding health, safety, and environment (HSE), equipment capacity, quality, productivity, and maintenance costs
