Description
Summary:
Installs, maintains, and repairs machinery, equipment, structures, and pipe in and around company plant by performing the following duties.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Visually inspects and tests machinery and equipment in and around plant area.
Listens for unusual sounds from machines or equipment to detect malfunction and discusses machine operation variations with supervisors or other maintenance workers to diagnose problem or repair machine.
Dismantles defective machines and equipment and installs new or repaired parts.
Cleans and lubricates shafts, bearings, gears, and other parts of machinery used in and around plant.
Lays out, assembles, installs, and maintains pipe systems and related equipment, and repairs and replaces gauges, valves, pressure regulators, and related equipment.
Sets up and operates machinery and other tools as needed for day-to-day operations in and around plant.
Employee must have the ability and willingness to work up to a 12-hour shift outdoors, must be willing to work overtime when required and approved by Superintendent, and must have the ability and willingness to work alternating day and night shifts.

Qualifications:

Education and/or Experience:
High School Diploma or general education degree (GED, plus 12 months related experience and/or training. Education may be equivalent to combination of education and experience.
Language Skills:
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence.
Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
Mathematical Skills:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
Writing Skills:
Must be able to speak, read, and write in the English language to communicate efficiently and effectively.
