Description

The ideal candidate will be a degreed Mechanical or Electrical Engineer with at least seven years of proven maintenance management experience in the cement industry. They will bring a solid background in mechanical, process, or chemical operations, combined with a strong working knowledge of MSHA regulations. This individual will be a hands-on leader who can ensure compliance, drive operational reliability, and foster a culture of safety and efficiency.

EXPERIENCE AND ABILITIES YOU WILL NEED:

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or electrical engineering required.
  • A minimum of 7 years’ experience managing maintenance in the cement industry and/or heavy industry environment.
  • A minimum of 7 years’ mechanical, process, or chemical experience required.
  • Working knowledge of MSHA regulations.
    The Maintenance Manager role is based at GCC’s Tijeras, NM plant, located just 15 minutes from Albuquerque. Relocation assistance is available.

Responsibilities

Provide leadership and technical expertise to operate all the cement operation from Quarry to shipping in safe manner in the mechanical, instrumentation, automation, and electrical maintenance areas through a solid maintenance management system, to ensure availability of plant equipment with an optimal cost, reducing risk and environmental regulation. Responsible for the development, training, and ongoing education-related aspects for the entire workforce in the Clinker and Cement Business Unit.

Duties, responsibilities, and activities could change, or new ones may be assigned at any time with or without notice based on new environmental regulations and market requirements.

  • Provide leadership, expertise, and technical background knowledge on maintenance related matters.
  • Align maintenance inspections and plans to achieve key performance indicators and/or market demand.
  • Lead preparation of major maintenance outages to be performed safe, on time, and strict following of the assigned budget cost.
  • Manage the preparation of the list of sustainable maintenance capital investment for the plant.
  • Provide leadership and coaching, to all employees in the maintenance department.
  • Coordinate the training, and development internal plan for the maintenance department personnel.
  • Responsible for development, oversight, and effective management of department budget per month to accomplish the annual goal in expenses.
  • Analyze overall performance of the operation and communicate results with appropriate team members to drive continuous improvement.
  • Ensure the fundamental pillars of the maintenance management system: Inspection (running and not-running, scheduling, improvement, and execution on weekly, monthly and annual manner.
  • Optimize overall equipment effectiveness in coordination with other departments (Production, Quarry, Quality, and Process).
  • Coordinate all efforts for root cause analysis and problem-solving processes, related to equipment availability, reliability, safety, cost and environment.
