Description

Established in 1963, Strescon Limited has grown to become the largest precast, pre-stressed concrete manufacturer in Eastern Canada. Its primary market covers the Atlantic Provinces and the New England region of the United States. Strescon manufactures a wide range of both architectural and structural precast/prestressed concrete products including bridge girders, wall panels, complete parking garages, hollow-core planking, piling and deck slabs. Strescon presently has two facilities: 70,000 sq ft. in Saint John, New Brunswick and 50,000 sq. ft. in Bedford, Nova Scotia.
In addition to our engineered precast facilities for custom components, Strescon also operates a 32,000 sq. ft. facility in Saint John which manufactures standard concrete products for engineered drainage systems, such as pipe, manholes and catch basins.
Strescon Limited is currently recruiting a full time or part time Plant Maintenance Technician at our precast concrete facility in Bedford, NS.

TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Strong electrical and PLC experience
  • 3 to 7 years’ experience in a heavy industrial environment
  • Valid provincial certification as an Industrial or Construction Electrician would be an asset
  • Past experience in the maintenance of overhead cranes would be useful
  • Journeyman Industrial Mechanic/Millwright or equivalent experience would be an asset
  • Welding tickets would also be considered an asset

BUSINESS REQUIREMENTS

  • Strong troubleshooting/problem solving skills
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to handle physically demanding work
  • Must be comfortable working at heights
  • Must have reliable transportation to work

CULTURAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate within a diverse workforce
  • Available to work shifts on a flexible basis including short notice of overtime
    Hourly wage for this position starts between $24.70-$25.92 per hour.

Responsibilities
  • Perform electrical and mechanical maintenance on all facility equipment and systems
  • Assist with troubleshooting all mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic and PLC systems
  • Working with outside third party maintenance companies
  • Conduct equipment inspections as required or as outlined by the preventative maintenance schedule to detect and diagnose issues
  • Report detailed records of work performed to management
