SUMMARY

The Plant Manager plays a crucial role in overseeing the treating plant’s operations. Reporting to the General Manager, this position includes coordinating daily plant activities and scheduling production to achieve corporate objectives, achieve environmental standards, and ensure compliance to quality control measures. The primary goal is to produce high-quality treated lumber products while ensuring a safe working environment for all employees.
This is a hands-on position requiring a leader who will roll up their sleeves and lead by example. Approximately 25 staff report to this position. The position requires a team builder who will spend 80% of their time on the plant floor and 20% of their time performing administrative responsibilities..

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Minimum of 5 years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing or production environment.
  • Experience in lumber manufacturing is considered an asset.
  • Proven ability to train and direct staff, motivating and developing team members while setting and monitoring performance standards.
  • Strong coaching and team-building skills.
  • Excellent organizational abilities with a knack for managing competing priorities effectively.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with both internal and external parties.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and ERP systems.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum five or more years’ skilled maintenance experience is an asset
  • Able to perform physical aspects of duties such as bending, lifting, and reaching during course of shift.
  • Able to lift up to 50 pounds or 23 kilograms.
  • Demonstrated good written and oral communication skills.
  • Must have steel-toed boots.

EDUCATION

  • Red Seal Millwright endorsement is preferred
  • Will consider candidates without Red Seal if you have significant welding experience in a manufacturing or production environment
