SUMMARY The Production Manager oversees the operations of the entire production facility (excluding purchasing, personnel, and non-production functions), with a focus on the Converting department. This role ensures adherence to company policies and procedures while driving optimal operational performance. QUALITY & SAFETY * Ensure plant focus on quality processes and tools for each converting machine. * Maintain plant housekeeping standards and ensure machine cleaning programs are current. * Drive safety initiatives and uphold OSHA, EPA, and company regulations. * Oversee all audit protocols (third-party, customer, and internal). LEADERSHIP & SUPERVISION * Directly supervise Converting employees and supervisors. * Set and communicate quality, efficiency, and production standards. * Provide training, coaching, conflict resolution, performance evaluations, and disciplinary action as needed. * Foster a culture of continuous improvement, teamwork, and high morale. ADMINISTRATIVE & STRATEGIC SUPPORT * Evaluate new methods, machinery, and safety programs; contribute to planning, budgeting, and purchasing. * Maintain optimal staffing levels daily. * Communicate issues to the General Manager in a timely manner. * Remain on-call and available after hours to address urgent production issues. * Perform additional duties as assigned by management. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED * High school diploma or GED * 10 years of experience in corrugated manufacturing * 5 years of proven management experience in a production environment PREFERRED * College degree * Experience with Ward Servo Pro Die Cutters, Bobst 8.2, and Gopfert Die-Cutters * 5+ years in converting manufacturing operations * 2+ years in a supervisory role * Proficiency in Lean/5S, OSHA, EPA regulations * Mechanically inclined with strong troubleshooting skills * Strong project management and coaching abilities -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- SKILLS & COMPETENCIES * Strong verbal and written communication skills * Sound mathematical and analytical capabilities * Ability to manage multiple priorities and lead effective meetings * Emotional resilience and conflict resolution skills * Positive leadership presence and professional demeanor -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- PERFORMANCE MEASUREMENTS * Operating Standards: Meets/exceeds performance goals for production and customer service * Personal Growth: Achieves annual professional development goals * Employee Relations: Demonstrates effective team development, coaching, and motivation * Creativity: Contributes innovative ideas to improve business operations -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- PHYSICAL & WORK ENVIRONMENT REQUIREMENTS * Regular walking, talking, hearing; frequent standing and reaching; occasional sitting * Visual requirements include close, distance, color, peripheral vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment * Exposure to wet/humid conditions, mechanical parts, fumes/particles, and high noise levels Qualifications As the world’s largest privately-held manufacturer of 100% recycled containerboard, Pratt Industries is leading the way in sustainable packaging solutions that help protect and deliver the products people rely on every day.
