PLANT MANAGER

Reports To: Vice President of Manufacturing
FLSA Status: Exempt SUMMARY: To plan, direct, and coordinate plant operations in accordance with business unit objectives to manufacture high quality products at the lowest possible cost by performing the following duties.

Responsibilities

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assures finished goods are in accordance with company quality control guidelines.
  • Communicates with management regarding production schedules, production problems, and employee problems daily.
  • Develops and maintains a program for sound employee relations with employees at all levels of the organization.
  • Maintains and controls the physical condition of the plant and surrounding grounds.
  • Assists in arbitrating grievances in accordance with company policy or any existing labor agreements.
  • Maintains plant policies, procedures, and guidelines consistent with company policies, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Establishes and monitors compliance with all federal, state, and local statues.
  • Reviews production sheets for work completion and merchandise discrepancies and returns to management.
  • Files production sheets in appropriate location.
  • Meets the needs of buyers through effective communication and maintains good business relations with buyers and management.
  • Assists and completes warehouse duties as required.
  • Performs all other duties assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Supervises all plant employees by delegating work orders, monitoring the quality of work, and instructing employees on updated products and procedures daily.
  • Manages and maintains subcontractor relationships.
  • Develops and maintains an effective company through the selection, training, review, termination, and compensation and motivation of plant employees.
  • Supervises the production of products by maintaining inventory, prioritizing work orders, and assuring work is completed in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Establishes and maintains training programs in all areas of plant operations including quality, safety, environmental concerns, and efficient manufacturing practices.

  • Education and/or Experience High School Diploma (or GED or High School Equivalence Certificate). College Degree preferred. Three (3) to five (5) years of Manufacturing Plant Management experience is required.
  • Language Skills Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to effectively present information to management, public groups, and/or board of directors. Ability to interact clearly and effectively, in both written and oral communication, with supervisor, clients, staff, vendors, etc.
  • Mathematical Skills Strong analytical and problemsolving skills. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Computer Skills To perform this job successfully, an individual should be proficient in personal computer skills including electronic mail, record keeping, routine database activity, word processing, spreadsheet, etc. This role requires an aboveaverage knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Other Relative Skills: Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines. Strong supervisory and leaderships skills.
