SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

  • Trade qualified Plant Mechanic with post trade experience and/or extensive industry experience.
  • Caterpillar equipment experience and product knowledge will be highly regarded.
  • Strong experience with mechanical fault finding and diagnostics.
  • Dedicated to maintaining safe work practices and environment.
  • Highly organised with the ability to prioritise fluctuating workloads and delegate effectively.

ABOUT THE ROLE

WesTrac is currently seeking Plant Mechanic Leading Hands to join both our Machine Rebuild and Component Rebuild Centre workshop at our Tomago branch to provide essential support to our large customer base in NSW. Whether you’re working on new builds or machine rebuilds, your expertise will be invaluable.
Reporting to the Workshop Supervisor, a Leading Hand position will see you utilising your experience to provide mechanical and technical support to a team of skilled mechanics. With a strong focus on safety, you will drive output and help to foster a collaborative mindset throughout the department.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Apply CAT machinery knowledge to autonomously troubleshoot and solve complex issues.
  • Efficiently repair and replace faulty components to restore machinery to optimal working condition.
  • Perform scheduled maintenance tasks to ensure the longevity and reliability of the operating systems.
  • Maintain a strong focus on safety protocols to prevent accidents and uphold a safe working environment.
  • Ensure high-quality workmanship in all repairs, installations, and maintenance tasks to meet industry standards and customer expectations.
