SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

  • Trade Qualified Plant Mechanic Certificate III Automotive Mechanical Technology (Heavy Vehicle Mobile Equipment) or equivalent.
  • Leadership experience with the ability to build a cohesive team with a common goal.
  • Demonstrated ability to delegate tasks and organise teams.
  • Familiarity with Caterpillar surface mining equipment (highly desired).
  • Strong commitment to meeting customer requirements.
  • Excellent diagnostic and repair skills and a strong commitment to service excellence.

Our New Machines workshop has an exciting opportunity for a dedicated Leading Hand Plant Mechanic to join our team at the Tomago branch, providing essential support to our extensive customer base in NSW.
As the Leading Hand, you will play a crucial role in guiding your team and enhancing the overall workshop performance. Your focus will be on optimizing flat rate times, boosting technician productivity and efficiency, ensuring safety, maintaining workshop housekeeping, and delivering high-quality work to achieve exceptional customer satisfaction.
Experience the versatility of a 24/7 workshop with a wide range of tasks, including base builds, custom builds, and Dealer Provided Options (DPOs). From excavators to drills, graders to OHTs—each day will bring new challenges and opportunities!

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide coordination and leadership to a team of technicians (auto electricians, plant mechanics, and trade assistants).
  • Ensuring that work orders are completed on time and to a high standard.
  • Complete machine builds of trucks, dozers, loaders, and graders to a Caterpillar quality standard.
  • Promote and maintain a safe, clean, and compliant work environment.
  • Coordinating the team’s activities to achieve a high level of customer satisfaction and best practice standards, ensuring all company, quality assurance, and legal requirements are adhered to.
  • Accurately diagnose faults and assist with repairs.
