ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

  • NPTC: Units 201 & 202 (CS30.1 & 30.2) Chainsaw maintenance and crosscutting.
  • NPTC: Unit 203 (CS31) Fell and process trees up to 380mm.
  • NPTC: FMO Crane fed chipper and base unit.
  • CPCS Red Card Excavator below and above 10 tonnes tracked.
  • CPCS Red Card Excavator below and above 10 tonnes Lifting Operations.
  • CPCS Red Card Excavator below and above 10 tonnes wheeled.
  • NPORS /CPCS Slinger signaller
  • NPORS Banksman/CPCS Banksman
  • First Aid + Forestry
  • Must be able to work away from home for long periods of time
  • UK Drivers licence
Responsibilities

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

The role of a Mech Arb Plant Operator is to work collaboratively with the wider team to deliver works efficiently and on time, to a high standard. Day to day works will include a range of tasks, including the operation and maintenance of machines, as well as maintenance of the yard and equipment. You will be regularly communicating with a range of team members as well as external contractors to ensure successful completion of work. Promoting a safe working environment and ensuring all regulations and risk assessments are followed. We are currently looking for Experienced machine operators to join our growing Mechanised Arb team. Full training will be provided for the right candidate if they do not already hold the relevant training including CPCS 360 excavator, CPCS tractor, EFAW, SSSTS, Water Rescue, Wheeled excavator and various others.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Site operations: Work within a tidy and efficient manner, ensuring works carried out on site are to a high standard. Ensure all vehicles are maintained to a high standard, completing all relevant checks on a regular basis.
Machinery: Expected to operate a variety of machinery and heavy equipment in a safe and efficient manner to ensure successful completion of works. This may be on highways, railway, utilities, and construction sites.
Environmental considerations: In all operations maintain awareness of environmental protection and prevent pollution.
Team player: Working within a team, supporting with new team members development in role, encouraging a positive workplace culture, engaging individuals and building relationships with team. Working with the wider team to ensure project works are carried out efficiently.
Health, Safety, and Compliance: Adhere to all legislation, including LOLER, COSHH etc. in all activities carried out. Ensuring yourself and others are wearing PPE at all times whilst on site and in the yard. Maintain awareness at all times and report any near misses and hazards whilst on site.
Problem solving: Actively prevent problems whilst on site, when they do occur make efforts to resolve them and provide improvements where possible to prevent reoccurrence
Communication: Always maintain communications with team members and managers, regularly providing updates of works carried out.
Safe working practices: Complete works safely to relevant RAMS, as well as following daily risk assessments and task risk assessments, abiding by relevant legislation, and following guidance from Site and Contract managers.
