Job Opportunity: Plant Pathologist
Location: Niab Park Farm, Histon, Cambridge, CB24 9NZ

Salary: From £28,000 per annum, depending on experience (with paid overtime available)
Contract: Fixed term for three years
Working Hours: 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday

ABOUT THE ROLE

Niab is seeking a Plant Pathology Researcher to join its expert Plant Pathology Team. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to research that enhances plant health and protects UK crops from emerging diseases. The successful candidate will work on innovative research projects, applying advanced molecular techniques and conducting field trials to assess and mitigate plant diseases. The role will involve a mix of laboratory work, growth room studies, field trials, and data analysis.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Conduct research in plant pathology and disease resistance.
• Perform molecular and genetic analyses, including DNA extraction, PCR/qPCR, and genotyping.
• Design and implement pathology trials in laboratory, growth room, and field environments.
• Manage laboratory equipment and ensure research processes run smoothly.
