Description
Description Responsible for the management, coordination, and monitoring of all Plant safety and regulatory compliance activities, to include environmental compliance. Develops comprehensive site-specific safety policies and procedures that ensure the Plant always maintains exceptional safety performance. Enacts and oversees all compliance programs, procedures, policies and training in order to comply with federal, state, and local regulations. Duties & Responsibilities: · Work extensively with the Plant Team as well as other members of the Company to develop, enact, expand, and enforce safety and environmental compliance programs to ensure they meet the needs of the Company and fulfill all necessary regulatory requirements · Act as a liaison with external legal and regulatory personnel and agencies as necessary, including OSHA, FRA, EPA, DOT, and PHMSA, among others · Prepare and maintain all required manuals, programs, procedures, and standards for the Beatrice Plant as it relates to safety and compliance · Maintain all records as it relates to safety, to include training, inspections, audits, etc. · Work in conjunction with HR, Retention and Recruitment and operations to develop standards regarding the sourcing, hiring, and training of all Plant Employees that will work in a safety sensitive function · Plan, develop, and implement training programs for all safety sensitive positions at the Beatrice Plant as well as the members of management that supervise Employees working in a safety sensitive function · Work with Executive Management to develop and implement corporate safety and security protocols · Frequently walk the Plant in order to appropriately audit, assess, and monitor the execution and effectiveness of all safety and compliance as well as on-site training · Lead external safety audits as the Beatrice Plant safety expert · Develop, compile, and distribute detailed, relevant reporting regarding key safety and environmental compliance metrics · Ongoing review, interpretation, communication, and implementation of federal, state, and local rules & regulations regarding safety and environmental compliance · Serve as a member of initial response team during emergency events, requires ability to respond 24/7 · Lead accident/incident investigations as necessary to compile accurate information and perform detailed analysis in order to determine cause and take appropriate actions to mitigate future risks · Function as the internal safety and compliance expert that is a resource for all personnel at the Beatrice Plant regarding corporate safety rules, truck, rail, and Plant operations · Ensure all administrative functions related to Safety & Compliance are completed · Work closely with internal environmental function to streamline Environmental, Health and Safety programming · Be a positive contributor to a culture that presents solutions in order to meet goals Requirements Experience and Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree Minimum 5 years in a safety-oriented environment Working Conditions: Sitting for extended periods of time. Dexterity of hands and fingers required to operate a computer keyboard or mouse, and to handle other computer components. Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
