Summary The Plant Safety/Quality Coordinator coordinates the plant safety observation program and reports the general findings to the Plant or Operations Manager. This position interfaces with the Safety and Quality team performing plant audits, disseminating details from audits to the appropriate parties, and keeping the Plant Manager informed of any safety or quality violations discovered that may require formal disciplinary written warnings. Duties and Responsibilities To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform the following essential duties satisfactorily. Other duties may be assigned to address business needs and changing business practices. Coordinates a plant (non-disciplinary) safety observation program in accordance with the Behavior-Based Safety Plan, and reports findings to the Plant Manager or Operations Manager. Performs plant safety audits. Assists in disseminating details from the plant safety audits to the Plant or Operations Manager. Conducts safety tours of the plant and reports findings. Informs Plant Manager of safety violations. Refers all technical safety issues to Plant Manager Provides training, compliance info, & related guidance & support for shop workers,supervision, and management. Responds to inquiries, concerns, and incidents related to EMS. Follows and enforces EHS policies and procedures. Develops compliance and permit management requirements and execute same with assistance from other production personnel. Coordinates and tracks DHS implementation Utilizes Smartsheet to organize and track Safety and QA training and compliance Utilizes Intelex to track Safety and QA training and compliance Performs safety training for new hires Follows up and tracks Safety Action Item list Inspect hazardous waste storage and insures that the shop is in compliance Maintains SDS books and information Helps input information in Maintenance X Program Conduct Stormwater sampling and inspection Gathers GHG information and inputs the information in Intelex Conducts Risk assesments and JSA implementation Conducts industrial hygene compliance tasks Leads shop safety committee Coordinates with Technical Trainer to observe Safety and Quality performance demonstrations / audits of employees in a shop environment. Assists with general administration and quality related data input duties utilizing Intelex and Smartsheet. Perform JSA training in conjunction with the Technical Trainers hands on shop floor training. Provides general awareness hazcom and Hazmat training and compliance Qualifications The following generally describes requirements to successfully perform the assigned duties. Minimum Qualifications Basic proficiency in AAR and FRA rules/regulations Basic knowledge of Quality Assurance principals, familiarity with QA tools and software, and of quality control processes Prior experience serving on a safety committee or in another safety-related role, with knowledge of safety protocols, risk assessment, and implementing workplace safety initiatives Experience speaking in front of large groups, presenting to peers and leaders Experience with incident/accident investigations Ability to work both independently and with a team Intermediate proficiency in computer applications including Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and Powerpoint Ability to collaborate and communicate professionally, both verbally and in writing, at all levels of the organization. Preferred Qualifications 2+ years experience in steel or paint production Familiarity with OSHA Safety Codes GBRX First Responder Work Environment and Physical Requirements Work Environment The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
