JOB SUMMARY:

This position is responsible for all plant scheduling, logistics, and procurement activities. The role leads cross-functional teams to ensure efficient production scheduling, seamless logistics coordination, and effective procurement of materials and services. The manager will analyze data, drive continuous improvement, and ensure compliance with safety, regulatory, and quality standards.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Leadership: Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage change in a dynamic environment.
  • Analytical Skills: Strong problem-solving and data analysis skills; ability to define issues, collect data, and propose solutions.
  • Communication: Exceptional verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Negotiation: Experience in contract negotiation and supplier/carrier management.
  • Technical Proficiency: Advanced skills in Excel, Word, Outlook, and supply chain management systems (Batchmaster, SAP, ERP).
  • Organizational Skills: Ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage complex schedules and logistics.
  • Strategic Vision: Ability to develop and execute strategies that align with business goals.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, logistics, business administration, or a related field.
  • Experience: 5+ years in supply chain, logistics, scheduling, or procurement, with demonstrated leadership experience.
  • Certifications: Knowledge of industry standards and compliance requirements (OSHA, SQF, etc.).
Responsibilities
  • Plant Scheduling and Coordination
  • Execute master production schedules in collaboration with plant operations and supply planning teams.
  • Convert demand forecasts into actionable production plans and ensure alignment with plant capacity and inventory targets.
  • Monitor and adjust schedules to minimize downtime and maximize efficiency.
  • Logistics and Transportation Management
  • Oversee all logistics and transportation programs, including scheduling and tracking of shipments, both internal and external.
  • Negotiate and manage contracts with carriers and suppliers to optimize costs and service levels.
  • Coordinate with sales, shipping/receiving, production, and customer delivery teams to ensure timely and accurate order fulfillment.
  • Maintain and update freight rate sheets and verify carrier invoices for accuracy.
  • Lead troubleshooting and escalation of logistics issues to minimize disruption.
  • Procurement and Supplier Management
  • Manage procurement of outside carriers and materials, ensuring all necessary documentation is completed and compliance requirements are met.
  • Develop and implement supply chain strategies to improve service, reduce costs, and increase operational flexibility.
  • Collaborate with sourcing and distribution teams to drive efficiencies across departments.
  • Team Leadership and Development
  • Lead, mentor, and develop the scheduling, logistics, and procurement teams.
  • Participate in hiring, training, and performance management.
  • Foster a positive, results-driven work environment and cultivate strong relationships with carriers, suppliers, and customers.
  • Performance Monitoring and Reporting
  • Define, track, and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) for scheduling, logistics, and procurement.
  • Prepare and balance timely and accurate reports for management.
  • Drive initiatives to improve order fill rate, on-time shipment, delivery accuracy, and cost efficiency.
  • Compliance and Safety
  • Ensure strict adherence to safety, regulatory, and quality standards (OSHA, REI, SQF).
  • Maintain confidentiality and uphold company policies and procedures.
