PLANT SHOP ASSOCIATE - PART TIME

  • Compensation: $21 CAD per hour + 4% vacation pay
  • Hours: 3-7 hour shifts, 2-3 shifts per week
  • Experience required: 1+ years (Customer service/ sales/ houseplant care)
  • Location: 1529 W 4th Ave. (Kitsilano / Fairview)

ABOUT FRONDLY

Frondly is a new kind of plant company. We sell indoor plants in-store and online and our mission is to radically improve the experience of buying plants, and make taking care of them easy and fun.
We’re looking for a new shopkeeper to join our small team and help us work towards achieving our goal. Although plants are what we sell, we consider ourselves to be a creative home decor brand, and an innovative logistics and customer service company.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Experience in customer service, sales or retail.
  • Experience working with plants in a garden center or plant shop would be an asset but extensive personal experience or interest in houseplants would be sufficient.
  • Proficient using Apple technology and software.
  • Experience using Shopify would be an asset but not required.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Have a valid BC Driver’s Permit.
  • Can lift packages up to 50 pounds.

ABOUT THE ROLE

We’re looking for a confident, friendly, and people-oriented plant aficionado to help match our customers with the right plants for their lifestyle and home.
We pride ourselves on our excellent service and work with customers 1-on-1 in our shop to help guide them to the right choice.
We believe that a sale is the natural result of understanding a customer’s lifestyle and potential challenges and educating them on how each product can meet their needs.

HERE’S WHAT YOU’LL DO

Primary Responsibilities

  • Customer Service

  • Greet customers in the store in a friendly and welcoming manner

  • Learn about each customer’s needs and their home’s environment and use your knowledge of plants to help guide them to the right one for them
  • Acknowledge and resolve customer issues with support from the team
  • Communicate in a timely and professional manner with your team members

  • Sales

  • Use an ipad and Shopify POS terminal to check clients out and take their payment

  • Schedule customer orders for delivery (as needed)

  • Store Maintenance

  • Keep the store sales-ready by updating pricing, restocking products sweeping floors and cleaning shelves.

  • Plant Care

  • Evaluate and monitor plant health.

  • Water plants as needed.

Secondary Responsibilities

  • Local Deliveries

  • Deliver orders locally (within Vancouver) as needed

  • Drive a light cargo van (Nissan NV200)
  • Deliver live plants, pots & accessories to customers’ homes with care
  • Follow routes and delivery schedules using delivery software (Easy Routes) and delivery apps (Apple / Google Maps)
  • Communicate with customers to ensure orders are successfully received.

  • Order preparation

  • Print packing slips for orders to be prepared.

  • Review order notes and ensure special requests are noted and fulfilled.
  • Ensure orders are prepared in advance of the scheduled delivery date.
  • Pick and prepare product ensuring that it meets internal standards
  • Package orders to ensure they are protected for delivery
